By 2020, 117 million Americans will need caregiver assistance and 45 million will provide unpaid care. We rely heavily on these caregivers to provide care to our aging population, but this system is not sustainable. Caregivers are burdened financially, emotionally, and physically with increased likelihood of mental and chronic health conditions. Over a 6-week timeline I worked in a team of four to explore a digital solution designed to improve the quality of life for caregivers.
We followed a six-week human centered design process to guide our work. Alone, in groups and through the occasional video-conference call, we put our trust in the process — and put in the work. And together, we built Aspen.
